Some Teasers for the 123 Surprise – Monthly Kits

So we are finally getting it together and doing some kits at 123. Yay. Have had a ball with the new K & Company range “Blue Awning” – just gorgeous deep navy blues and paler steel blues, khaki green and brownish-cream. Yummo. Plus all those wonderful embellishments they always have – particularly some new acetate frames and pearl and bling rubons. Just wonderful stuff.

The “Moody Blues” kit goes on-sale early next month – but here are some sneek peaks of a couple of the layouts I did with the Basic Elements Kit and Pamper Pack. I’ll post a couple more in a day or so when they are finished. But the Basic kit is enough to do 2 layouts or a layout and some cards and you should be able to get 3 layouts at least out of the Pamper Pack. There is also an embellishments pack to use with the kits as well. All great value for money, as they represent at least 10% less than the price the individual elements would sell for in the store. So head into the store early next week and see if you can snap one up – as stocks are limited of this inaugral 123 Monthly Kit.

The Basic Essentials Kit

And now the Pamper Pack

TSE – forum techniques – kindyglitz

Okay – so asking me to have a play with some kindyglitz is such a big ask!! Like that will take me out of my comfort zone. Lol – had a lovely play thanks Mary.

Used some old Kaiser papers – Bohemian Threads – as they were a lovely match for the vest my mother-in-law was wearing in the photo. Lovely rich colours – but a little dark. The trick was going to be not letting that dark colours overpower the layout. I had seen this cool technique in a lss somewhere – forget where as it was just something I looked at and went ‘cool – like that’ and then forgot all about it until now. It meant punching out some circles and then arranging them in a line across the cardstock. Over this I stitched some black thread to make them secure. I kindyglitzed the yellow parts of the pattern to make them stand out more. It worked a treat and I really like this look – so may use it again sometime.

Used the black kindyglitz – love the texture it gives to cardstock. And some new Bazzzill die cut borders that are really cool – instant pizzazz to anything and no cutting involved. Got to love that. Add in a bit more cutting – the paisley is gorgeous but I wish they had more full ones on the page. Need to go find some more of this paper and do another layout with it – really like the colour combination.

Anyway – here tis – the end product. Used a photo of Madame and her Grandma – they love spending time with each other and it was nice to get a photo of them together like this. Have included a couple of close-ups to show the details.

For the other layout I used the Crate Paper range Kaitlin – gorgeous jewel colours and really pretty pinks, greens and purples. But I have had them for months and had no idea what to do with them. I did start this for a 123 layout, but gave up when mojo took a holiday. I had a brainwave though and used it to finish the layout for the kindyglitz feature. Love pink and black – so filled in my gaps in the layout with some black floral rubons. Perfect.

Whoo hoo – how exciting. I’ve been offered the position as a DT member for Click’n’Scrap. Sharnie has the most awesome collection of goodies for sale in the store – primas like you would not believe – amongst other things. Shopping there is flower heaven.

As the first item for the store I have been working with their monthly $10 kit and for June worked with the Smitten range of papers. This is the layout I did for the kit.

It’s very minimalist for me – but I am trying out a few new things and this is one of them. I like it though. Not something I would do every day – but it is nice – I think.

123 DT Competition Challenge 2 – Scrap Yourself

God I hate scrapping me. Am currently running at a page a year. At this rate my BOM will never get past the B. And I am not one bit repentant about it. If I was interested in me I would write an autobiography.

But the challenge for this part of the DT comp is to craft a page about oneself, including a hand drawn element. I did offer originally to do a layout on my toes – even offered to Kindyglitz them so I had a technique I could email to Wilma. Sigh – but she said I had to show my face in the photo. Kars got in first and made hers a tiny little photo – so I guess I had better be good and make mine a reasonable size.

Loving the Bo Bunny Teen Chic though – very noice. Am planning to adapt what I did for this to make a 12 x 12 for Madame. Hot pink is still her favourite colour – though she was mightily impressed with the lime green, black and white knee high boots she was wearing at soccer today with her Mod Zebra outfit. Will have to scrap her in that – such a little go go outfit. Very 60/70’s.

Back to this – the journalling is based on the Bo Bunny journalling stamp set. Very noice. Will be using them again. Chopped up the papers so I could layer them to show off the best bits of the pattern and my hand-drawn bit is an extension of the white flourishes from the paper pattern and the scallop edging on the side. I scalloped the right edge of the page – so the grungy grey bit is my kitchen cork floor and not the layout. 🙂

Back to my favourite alphas – the HS She ones – and some Cherry Arte ones for the small ‘s’. They are a buggar to paint – must remember to scruff them up a bit first with the sandpaper next time. Prima have some really nice stuff out of CHA – the writing you can see faintly under the title is one of their new clear tapes. Just like sticky tape only with words or flourishes on them. Very easy to use too and not as expensive as you would think they would be. Just have to hide them from the family when they are looking for the non-scrapping stuff and want to grab these off my desk instead.

And nope – not giving you a close up of the journalling. Let’s just say I have had some thinking to do about things in my life being not what I want them to be. Have made my decision – just need the time to be right for it to happen.

Hmmmm – so okay – wordpress is not wanting to play with images tonight. Either that or it has the same opinion of my photo of me that I do. Will upload later today then.

Okay – finally managed to convince it to upload – so here tis.

Kaiser cards

So I have been making cards. Lots of them. All with the same range of papers – which I never want to scrap with again. Lol – gets like that sometimes doesn’t it – do a heap with one thing and then never want to touch it. I will though – since doing the last card gave me some ideas for a layout and I took some photos tonight of Madame’s foot burn and the colours will match those papers with a bit of fiddling.

Anyways – the first card is for the TSE “Winter Warmers” cc that started Friday night. Not sure it has gone down well with the girls there – but I like it. Maybe that’s just my sense of humour though. I bought this cuttle bug corset card die – out of curiosity – and although it is interesting and cute, can’t see me using it too often. Made for a cute title for my card though.

The Kaisercraft ‘Plush Empress’ range is interesting – but not the best they have done in my opinion. It was damn hard to match embellishments to as well – AND cardstock. But here tis my little corset card. Must think of a victim to send it to.

And the inside.

The other three cards are for the 1st DT challenge for the 123 DT Competition. Laughing – I’m absolutely certain ALL the entries will be better than mine and Wilma will have to pick someone to replace me. Lol.

Anyway – they are for three different occasions – and you had to use one paper on all three. You weren’t limited to just one paper only – but you had to use one on all three of them. On mine I used the Striped one (Sophisticated) on all of them – sort of a stripe mood happening.

With these cards I tried to show a range of approaches, difficulty levels and card types. Since most of us use scraps for our cards I also tried to use just scraps on them – athough the way I have done the pop-up card does need a full paper for the cover. This is only because I know my Nana will look at the back and ask if I ran out of money for it. Sigh.

A BIG huge thank you to Vita Thai for the instructions for the pop-up card and for showing me hers in the first place to make me want to do one. Love, love, love the hearts one she did as an example.

So here are the cards – Nan’s is pretty big (30cms) but the others are smaller and use leftover c/s from other things. The last card I did – the vertical one – I am actually really happy with. It’s simple, but I really like it. The ribbon on it is just gorgeous and I am so disappointed that I used it all up – have no idea where I got it – but if I ever find out I will be gettting more of it. It’s a 2-tone one – sort of a pink and chocolate. Bit hard to tell actually – but I have to find more.

So here they are.

And the inside of the pop-up card. I have not put the journalling in as that is private – but you can see the journalling card ready for it. Hmmm – can’t see me taking on Hallmark any time soon – but Nan should love it. At least I hope so.

New Forum at 123

Whoo Hoo guys – 123 finally has its forum up and running. And running it is. Lots of people have joined up and we have some great threads going. And don’t forget we are looking for 2 new crazy scrappers to join Kars and I in the Dream Team. Come save Wilma’s sanity and help her keep us under control!!

The first of my techniques pages has been uploaded as well. Using “Glitter and Bling” I have created my own gemstone flourishes using Kaisercraft gemstones. Had to buy waaaaay too many packets of them and not telling how long it took to make – but I am really happy with the result.

So come visit us at the store forum and join in all the fun.
