more Bo Bunny

Since I am home sick with the flu (thanks DS1), it might be a good idea to put in a few updates from the past week.

So loving the Bo Bunny “Ella Enchanted” paper range still. Very pretty and girly to use.

I want to thank Kars and Monica for a great scrapping get-together night where I got the bones of this layout done – whilst we had a great night chatting away – nothing like scrapping with friends.

For the second of the three I am doing with this range for Click”n”Scrap I wanted to use the glorious ornate pattern on the paper – feature it and make the most of it. I think sometimes people hide these gorgeous patterns because they are too complex and intricate and you miss a lot of them when people stick ‘stuff’ all over them.

Yeah yeah – I know I have stuck ‘stuff’ all over my patterned paper too – but I have tried to highlight and focus on the patterns as well. I’ve used kindyglitz to ‘pick out’ the pattern and I also used some of those gorgeous black Kaisercraft pearls to do the same thing. I cut around the pattern at the bottom of the paper to give it a nice ‘die cut’ edge look that features the pattern. The black glittery stuff is loose glitter powder – love that stuff and my lss is the only place I have ever found it in – little pots of glitter. Very yummy.

With complex and intricate patterns, it is often better to keep the colours used to just one or two – otherwise it becomes too ‘busy’. So I have kept this layout to just the one patterned paper and 3 colours: a sort of pinky-red as the dominant colour; black as the contrasting colour and a small touch of pale pink in the patterned paper.

The patterned paper takes up about 2/3’s of the layout – leaving 1/3 plain cardstock. I overlaid the photo onto the paper to further reduce the amount showing and placed a matching flower (Prima – Eire 2) to do the same. Too much of the pattern showing can be a little overwhelming. A little kindyglitz to the edges of the flower really makes it sparkle. I also added a small Buzz and Bloom chipboard heart to give me somewhere for journalling.

I kept the title plain (and pretty much the same colour as the paper), but featured it by placing a contrasting (black) set of rubons behind it. These rubons have the same ornate pattern style as the paper – making them a great match. Love love love the rubons – saw them ages ago and totally forgot about them until now. The title is the ‘love and kisses’ alphas by Buzz & Bloom.

The photo is black and white, to keep with the colour theme. I’ve bordered it with some velvet ric rac and some to-die-for black gemstone flourishes and borders. These are Prima ones (see the store as they are currently on special) – as is the centre of the flower. They complement the Kaiser pearls well and add to the lush, ornate feel of the layout.

So here is the full layout. Just adore that photo of Madame – she looks so grownup there. Not my baby anymore. Sigh – the years go too fast sometimes. 2-3 is one of those ages where you just want to freeze them – hold them there until you are ready for them to grow up a little more. But then maybe we would never be ready for them to grow up??

Noteworthy II – Delaney

What fun this month at TSE. Mary gave me the gorgeous MM Noteworthy II – Delaney to play with and I had so much fun.

Wasn’t too sure what to do with the really bright colour combination at first and as much as I adore the die cut papers – I never know what to do with them. I’m afraid to admit to how many I still have un-used in my stash.

But I had the perfect photo for it and some to-die-for satin Primas that were a perfect match. So a-cutting I went. Only used half the die cut paper – but extended the pattern by using the matching notepaper. Also found this funky ribbon from my lss – they have the most extensive ribbon collection I have ever seen. Just amazing. Yummy glitter die cut shapes and some Kaiser plum pearls plus some Buzz and Bloom chippie alphas. Yummo.

So after all the colour I worked on something a little more restful. Lol This is the free class layout at TSE this Friday night at 7.30. Would love for you to visit and take part in it. Mary is offering this gorgeous MM 8 x 8 Chippie Album as a prize on the night – so come and be in it to win it.

You’ve seen all the exciting bits in the sneak peeks – so here is the final thing. A little simpler than the usual layout from me – but then you do need to be able to get it done in the class.

I made the last layout in a hurry. I had to use it as a replacement for the original layout which I could not for various reasons use. Why is it mojo hates a short-deadline?? Had a horrible time coming up with something until I decided to try using just the left-overs. That worked.

So this is the layout that lack of time and leftover created. Lol – I actually like it. Lots of shimmer paint and some stamping and inking – just adore the Inque Boutique stamp set I used. More ribbon and flowers etc. Only took a ocuple of hours – which for me is usually a record. Most of the hassle was in deciding what to do.

So that’s it for me for a bit for TSE – other than the upcoming cc. Hoping by the time I have more to do that the new BG will be out. Sooooooo looking forward to some of those ranges.

Hope to see you at the class on Friday night.

White Space

Not really my style – it hurts to leave so much empty space. But I had to try doing one and I had this idea in mind. My favourite trick of late is to use the little left over bits from the Cutterpede scallop blade – you get this nice little edge with a reverse scallop on it.
Sooooo – I did this. It was actually the sketch for 123 a couple of months ago – but I forgot to load it up here. Love the glitter cuts as well – very yummy.

Noteworthy II class at TSE this Friday

Come play with me at TSE in the forum this Friday night. We will be playing with the Delaney range of papers from the Noteworthy II collection by Making Memories. Kits are available from the store or you can join in with your own stash – the class is FREE – a gift from the DT to the forum members.

Here are a couple of sneak peeks from the layout we will be doing.

Hope you can make it – would love to see you there.

Have a laugh with me

So most of you know what I think about OTP. I do them kicking and screaming when I have to as DT projects. And I think I SUCK big time at them.

Soooooo – when SM asked me months ago to do a product challenge I was really excited. Then I got the damn thing and it was a MINI ALBUM – one of the new ones by Kaiser. A train one to boot – me with no photos readily available for any male child under 10. : Lol – I had to run off and take a day’s worth of photos of my nephew running about at Grandma’s to have any photos for it.

I was so unhappy with it when I finished it I almost emailed to tell them that I would reimburse them the cost of the materials and never darken their door again with my work. So after all these months now it is finally in this months issue of SM – and looking at it now – you know, I almost like it.

Good thing his mother loves it – and that’s all the counts really I guess.

July Sketch – 123 Scrapbook

Whoops – I know the month is half over – but I did the sketch for 123 this month and here it is. @ extra challenges – it must be monochromatic and the picture and title must be enough to say it all – no journalling needed.

Loving the Cafe Culture range of papers from Kaisercraft. They suit the sepia photos I like so much. I have a couple of others I have done as well – will put them up here as I get time – but this was the first one I did. The title alphas and Scraplets heart are coloured using Glimmer Mist – this gorgeous yummy colour that perfectly matched the darker Prima flower. I also put some soft gold shimmer Glimmer Mist on the lighter flower so that it sparkles too. The rubons are cream Hambly ones.

You can get a close up of the heart and flower here.

So come on in and submit your entry in the gallery at 123 and be in the running for a store voucher.

123 Moody Blues Kits – out now

Yeah yeah – so they came out a week ago. Have been having computer problems this last week or so. Ever since Hubby finally installed the new one he has been playing with for a MONTH before handing over to me.

And let’s not even START to talk about my beloved Canon – which is having a hissy fit and needs to go for some serious repair work. 😦

But the kits are out now and selling well so be quick to get yours. Here are the three layouts I did from the kits – the ones I gave you the sneek peaks for a while ago.

Just love this first one. The photo isn’t mine – it’s a studio shot. I cropped it out of the larger family group though as I just loved her facial expression. Love love love the dress too – yet another Gymboree one.

Okay – this one is a favourite of Hubby’s. Madame found some dandelions and we decided to ‘blow kisses to the fairies” – that’s what she and I decided happened when the dandelion seeds get blown away. Madame is at the age when fairies are all the rage and she was very taken with this idea. There is now not a single dandelion in our back yard – you bloom there at your peril. Lol!! Adore the rubons – they were just perfect.

So I have discovered that doing several layouts all in a row in the same colour themes can be a little daunting. Had to really think a bit to get this last one – and not happy that I had to use another of the dandelion photos – but oh well – you do what you have to do.

(oops – the image for this is on the other computer – better go find it and import it to this one – sigh)

I still have heaps of the kits left over and since I bought some of the other items in the range I have more layouts to do – but not just yet. 😦 Will take a break from it for a bit and then do them.
