Click’n’Scrap – Sale and Sketch Competition

Have had these My Little Shoebox papers in my stash for a bit now – started working on this last month and never got back to it – with all the things happening. Sharnie has been having a huge sale at Click”n”Scrap and if you are quick you can still catch the specials before they end on the 4th of Jan. Lots of yummy products – including the gorgeous new Prima flowers and paper. Wanting some of that myself actually.

Still in a shabby mood – lots of tearing and inking. Tried out some of my new Sakura Souffle Pens around the edges of the scalloped sections. Very nice. The alphas are my new all-time favs – the BG Choc Chip (Delilah) ones – which I have coloured using Gold Bamboo Twinkling H2O’s. The rhinestone corner is Kaiser of course. Madame had these lovely Gymboree pj’s that had wing outlines stitched onto the back – when she was going through that “sleeping with your knees tucked up under you” phase that many toddlers go through, it was so cute to see her little wings just over her little poked up bum. Lol – had to Kindyglitz the wings to make them stand out.

There is a lot happening with the paper design – so I did not embellish much, as it would have overpowered it I think. But I had to put a Green Tara flower down in one corner – just a button, a ribbon bow and pearl pin to finish.

My only complaint about the paper is how thin it is – but then most of the papers I have worked with lately are the thicker cardstock ones, so maybe I am out of practice with it. It’s not so much of a problem I guess – since I do like to back my layouts onto cardstock rather than paper alone. Anyway – here is the finished layout. Her curls are finally growing back now her hair is getting longer – but not like they were here. Sigh – if only we knew then!!

Again using the My Little Shoebox papers – but this time a different range. This layout is for the sketch challenge for Click’n’Scrap – the sketch for which is a lovely one by Natmay. So have a go at the sketch – you have until the 6th of Jan to get one into the gallery. I’ve tilted the papers a little from the original sketch and the chippy flower border is serving as my scalloped edge. Trying to do something different for me – so the alphas are paper covered chippy ones, where I have edged them with white Signo gel pen. The lace was white too – but I used some Pinecone chalk ink to colour that.

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year – I hope it is a safe and scrappy 2009 for you all.

Sketch – Kaiser “Wish Upon”

Love, love, love this range – so soft and sweet. Knew just what I wanted to do with it Had my cutting fingers itching as soon as I saw it.

I made the sketch criteria (okay it was for Nov – so this is well and truly old news) a little special – you had to be inspired by a Christmas Decoration you own. It could be in the title, the colours or even the theme – though preferably it would be in some aspect of the embellishments.

I did this because I was inspired by a Christmas star decoration that we have had for a few years now.

Coincidentally Kaiser have a wooden star ornament that is very close in design to the Xmas decoration I have – so from it I took inspiration for the title, the papers I used, and most of the embellishments were matching star shapes.

Also – the journalling is hidden on the layout – tucked away behind the photo on a small tag.

I had a lovely time playing with my Twinkling H2O’s for this layout. The star, title alphas and Green Tara flower are all coloured-in with them.

I love this shot of my little poppet – she was playing last Christmas with her new dolls house and just happened to glance up at me whilst I was taking photos of her playing. Sometimes the un-planned moments are the most special.

Sorry about the flash on it but we had overcast skies for over a week and I simply had to use the best photo I could take. Sometimes trying to show a layout that has a lot of kindyglitz is very hard – you need the flash to make it sparkle but then you get flash glare.

The rubons are also Kaiser – they came out at the same time as the paper range so you can safely assume that they are meant to go with it.

123 Xmas Cyber crop

Oops – we have almost finished this now – entries close this weekend.

We had a ball the opening night – lots of fun and mayhem with the games and chat.

The next one is not until the end of Jan – so plan on partying with us then.

Here is my challenge layout and the criteria. Had fun with a little photo altering.

For me Christmas is a time of traditions – family and cultural.

We have our own little ones – and one of them is collecting the set of 5 children’s themed Christmas ornaments from Hallmark.

It was so exciting to finally get a little girl set for Madame (you collect them one each year for the 5 years).

So for the challenge the criteria are:

1 Scrap a family tradition.
2 Use gold somewhere on the layout.
3 Do something unusual with at least one of the alphas.
(I’ve used an ornament for my “O”)

I had a play with the SEI Alpine Frost range. It is a rather subdued layout – just felt flat doing it – me, not the paper range. But it came out okay I guess. Now that mojo is back I must play with them again as there is some gorgeous papers in the range.

Catch Up

Okay – I am a slack blogger. We’ve had a few family issues to work through the last couple of months and I simply have not had time to update here.

But things are looking a little better now. Thanks to all of you who emailed or otherwise contacted me to wish me ‘well’ – I am getting there. I have more energy and feel a lot more able to focus on things now. So all good.

So there will be a few posts over the next week to catch up on the work I have done over those 2 months – not that there has been much. Scrapping was just not a happening thing with an absent mojo due to other issues.

I’ve been playing a bit this week in-between trying to get Xmas sorted out and I think I finally found my mojo in the spring clean of the house. 🙂 If nothing else I have a clean house. Lol.
